Kitchen Manager

Role:

  • Manages bakery operations and kitchen staff
  • Oversees employee scheduling and cultivates a productive and high performing bakery team environment
  • Works directly with Operations Manager and General Manager to ensure weekly bakery production is accurately forecast and met
  • Incorporates teamwide practices to increase efficiencies and volume
  • Establishes and implements processes to track product quality, bakery efficiency and adherence to FSMA guidelines
  • Oversees all phases of the inventory management lifecycle including purchase, receipt, storage and tracking of both cake and non-cake items
  • Provides periodic updates to management regarding bakery performance, operational insights and incident management

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4 years experience in equivalent role in either cafe, restaurant or bakery industry; or 2 years experience in equivalent role and 2 years in role of baker/ chef 
  • Proven experience creating efficiencies and implementing processes to scale production
  • Fluent in computer skills, including excel, inventory management tools and POS system.
  • Outstanding organization and communication skills.
  • Ability to flourish in a fast paced, uncertain environment.
  • Extensive commercial kitchen experience
  • Food handler’s permit

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in gluten free/ dairy free/ whole foods bakery environment 
  • Good organizational skills
  • Deep knowledge of FSMA requirements and how to adhere to guidelines

 

Assistant Baker

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in producing all cakes and varieties therein
  • Keep record of inventory at all times
  • Support and contribute to production activities
  • Maintain Sweet Laurel’s quality standards in kitchen at all times and contribute to quality assurance improvements for the products and kitchen
  • Decorate cakes according to brand standards and prepare them for delivery
  • Step into role of Head Baker when needed
  • Learn about Sweet Laurel method and ingredients, and why they are used to make our baked goods

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Production experience in a relevant industry, i.e. cafe, restaurant or bakery
  • Fluent in basic computer skills, including email, excel and other inventory and task management tools
  • Excellent communication
  • Ability to flourish in a fast paced, uncertain environment
  • Extensive commercial kitchen work experience
  • Food Handlers’ certificate

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of gluten free, refined sugar free and dairy free baking
  • Good organizational skills
  • Production minded
  • Culinary graduate

Barista/Shift Lead

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with customers on a daily basis and maximize their customer experience
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with our customer community
  • Align with Sweet Laurel core values, and practice them daily
  • Maintain Sweet Laurel’s quality standards in front and back of house
  • Create and execute a seamless customer experience from start to finish
  • Share knowledge about Sweet Laurel method and ingredient choices with customers
  • Lead baristas in tasks throughout shift
  • Open and close the shop, and engage in all activities therein

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Focused and engaging customer service
  • Strong references
  • Fluent in basic computer skills, including email, excel and other inventory and task management tools
  • Excellent communication
  • Ability to flourish in a fast paced, uncertain environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Barista experience
  • Knowledge of gluten free, refined sugar free and dairy free baking
  • Experience with PoS systems (i.e. Square, Toast, etc)
